National Engineers Week
National Engineers Week is designed to promote engineering in education, industry, media, and the general public. The goal of the week is to increase awareness of engineering and highlight the importance and impact of engineering in society. Activities during Engineers Week build pride in engineering and encourage people to learn about the profession. Engineers Week is celebrated annually on the week of George Washington's birthday, February 22, who is credited as being the nation's first engineer.
As part of the week's activities, a blood drive will be held on Monday as a contest to see which engineering major can donate the most blood. Several engineering student organizations will be sponsoring the Boiler Engineering Dash (B.E.D. Races) on Tuesday of Engineers Week. The event is designed to be a fun way for students to get involved in Engineers Week. For more information or to register a team, please visit our B.E.D Race page.
